Obituary for Lois Jean Burger

Lois Jean Burger, 80, of Wilber, passed away Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at the Wilber Care Center. She born on March 4, 1937 at Beatrice and was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church of rural Pickrell. Lois Jean graduated from Adams High School in 1954. On August 4, 1957 she married Charles Burger at Zion Lutheran Church of rural Pickrell. She worked for Western Electric, Russell Stover, was a homemaker, and helped on the farm. She was a member of St. Paul’s (Soap Creek) Lutheran Church of rural DeWitt and helped clean the church. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, and cooking.

Survivors include her husband Charles of Wilber; daughter, Karen Burger of Wilber; son, Keith Burger of Beatrice; four grandchildren, Garrett, Shawn, Trenton, and Colton Burger; brother, Wayne (Dorothy) Trauernicht of Beatrice; brother-in-law, Jim (Helen) Burger of Wilber; sister-in-law, Mary Ann (Steve) George of Omaha; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Anna Wolken Trauernicht.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, February 9, 2018 at St. Paul’s (Soap Creek) Lutheran Church of rural DeWitt with Pastor Rick Johnson officiating. Burial will be at St. Paul’s Church Cemetery. A family prayer service will be held at 10:15 A.M. Friday in the fellowship room of the church. A memorial has been established to St. Paul’s (Soap Creek) Lutheran Church. The body will lie in state at the Fox Funeral Home from 3:00 P.M. Wednesday until 9:00 P.M. Thursday and then one hour preceding the service at the church on Friday. Fox Funeral Home of Beatrice is in charge of the arrangements.
