Obituary for Virgie Mae Abrams

Virgie M. Abrams, 93, of Wilber formerly of Beatrice, died at the Wilber Care Center Tuesday night, May 14, 2019. She was born March 20, 1926 at Blue Springs, NE and attended Union Center School. She moved with her family to Wymore and attended Wymore Public School. She married Roy Abrams on September 28, 1943 at Marysville, KS. They lived in Wymore for several years and in Missouri for two years before moving to Beatrice in 1951. She worked at Dixie Crème and Daylight Donut Shop for 18 years. She retired after working as a waitress in the café at the Sale Barn. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and babysitting.

Survivors include seven grandchildren, Melody Shew, Melissa Bartlett, Nick Corter, James Corter, Joey Corter, Kristina Jones, and Benjamin Hartwig; many great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, April Abrams; sister, Marjorie Curran of Beatrice; friends and caregivers, Nancy Mahloch, the staff at Wilber Care Center and AseraCare Hospice. She was preceded in death by her parents, Gilbert and Nellie Wymore Johnson; her husband Roy, who died April 9, 2006; two daughters, Linda Leech and Connie Leech; one son, Roy Abrams, Jr.

A Memorial Service will be held at Fox Funeral Home of Beatrice on Wednesday, May 22, 2019 at 10:00 A.M. with Sharon Schuster officiating. Inurnment of the cremains will be in the Wymore Cemetery of Wymore. A memorial has been established to AseraCare Hospice. Cremation has taken place and there will be no viewing. A register book will be available for signatures at the Fox Funeral Home of Beatrice on Tuesday from 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. Fox Funeral Home of Beatrice in charge of arrangements.
