Obituary for LaVon A. Trauernicht

LaVon A. Trauernicht, 79, of Pickrell died at Gold Crest Retirement Center in Adams on Wednesday, April 24, 2019. She was born August 10, 1939 at the Lutheran hospital in Beatrice. She was baptized and confirmed at Christ Lutheran Church of rural Pickrell. She attended District 57 Country School “Excelsior” through the 8th grade, had one year of high school at Pickrell and then transferred to Cortland High School, graduating in 1956. She received her Teacher’s Certificate from Doane College, taught country school for seven years and substitute taught for several more years in Pickrell. LaVon met Lorenz Trauernicht at a Lenten service at her family’s church. They were married on December 28, 1958 at Christ Lutheran Church of rural Pickrell where she was a life-long member. LaVon touched many lives through teaching Sunday School and confirmation and being church secretary for 41 years. She was also the bookkeeper for Trauernicht Farms and Trauernicht Drywall for over 50 years. Family, friends and faith were very important to her and she lived her life in Christ. She enjoyed playing cards, traveling, and watching her grandchildren in school and sporting events.

Survivors include her husband, Lorenz of Pickrell; three sons, Russell (Teresa) Trauernicht of Sterling, Ross (Mary) Trauernicht of Pickrell and Rodney Trauernicht and special friend Sheryl Thimm of Beatrice; one daughter, Rhonda (Doug) Dorn of Filley; 11 grandchildren, Ryan (Katie) Trauernicht, Mitchell Trauernicht, Trey Trauernicht, Alyssa (Corey) Lieneman, Justin Trauernicht, Lucas Trauernicht, Natasha Trauernicht, Paige (KC) Block, Mallory Dorn and fiancé Kaleb Sekutera, Devin Dorn and Amber Dorn; four great-grandchildren, Tavin and Layton Lieneman, Lila and Henry Trauernicht; one sister, Charlene (Harvey) Ideus of Lincoln; brother-in-law, Richard (Carol) Trauernicht; two sisters-in-law, Vivian Schuster of Lincoln and Hilda Mae (Robert) Lenners of Grand Island; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Tjark D. “Charles” and Ella Schmidt Duitsman; two infant brothers; great-grandson, Calvin Trauernicht; parents-in-law, Martin and Thelma Jurgens Trauernicht; brother-in-law, Elmer Schuster.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, April 29, 2019 at Christ Lutheran Church of rural Pickrell with Pastor Heather Brown officiating. Burial will be in the Christ Lutheran Cemetery of rural Pickrell. A family prayer service will be held at 10:15 A.M. on Monday at the church. A memorial has been established to Christ Lutheran Church.
The body will lie in state at the Fox Funeral Home of Beatrice on Saturday from 12:00 noon to 8:00 P.M., Sunday from 8:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M. and at the church one hour preceding the services on Monday. The family will meet and greet friends at the funeral home from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Sunday. Fox Funeral Home of Beatrice in charge of arrangements.
