Obituary for Connie Mae Searcey

Connie Mae Searcey, 70, of Lincoln, Nebraska, formerly of Auburn, Nebraska died Monday, September 24, 2018 at Grace Pointe Assisted Living in Lincoln. She was born March 9, 1948 to Harry and Helen Leseberg in Marysville, Kansas. She graduated from Barneston High School in 1966. Connie and her beloved husband Gail were high school sweethearts and were married on May 31, 1969. During these years they raised two sons, Dustin and Chad. Connie was a resident of Auburn, Nebraska from 1977 to 2016 where she was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She was a dedicated employee of the Auburn Board of Public Works for 27 years, retiring in 2012. Her hobbies included gardening, playing her organ and accordion, and attending Gail and her sons’ sporting events. In recent years, the one thing Connie enjoyed doing the most was watching her grandsons grow into wonderful young boys. Connie was a kind, generous angel on earth and will forever be our angel in heaven. Her greatest treasure was her love for her family.

Survivors include her husband Gail, sons, Dustin, Omaha; Chad, Kansas City; brothers Larry (Terry) Leseberg, Kenny (Linda) Leseberg, and Terry “Ace” Leseberg; sisters, Judy (David) Waugh, Lois (Wes) Oden and Joyce “Pete” (Allan) Vacek; brothers-in-law, Max (Patty) Searcey, L.G. (Becky) Searcey, beloved Cousin/Brother Stan Leseberg; four grandchildren, Slayton Searcey, Cash Searcey, Stone Searcey, Covey Searcey, and many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, infant sons Barry and David, infant daughter Lisa, and infant sister Ruth Ann Leseberg.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church of Beatrice on Friday, September 28, 2018 at 11:00 A.M with visitation at the church one hour prior to the service with Father Robert Barnhill and Father Justin Fulton, Concelebrants. Burial will be in the St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery of Barneston. Visitation will be held at the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Auburn, 2221 “N” St from 4:00 P.M. to 6:30 P.M. Thursday with a Scriptural Rosary Service at 6:30 P.M. Thursday with Father Karl Millis and Father Justin Fulton. A memorial has been established to the family for future designation. Fox Funeral Home of Beatrice in charge of arrangements.
