Obituary for Wayne Spier

Wayne H. Spier, 90, of Lincoln formerly of Beatrice died in a Lincoln hospital on Friday, January 12, 2018. He was born November 19, 1927 in rural Blue Springs and graduated from Holmesville High School in 1945. He received a scholarship to attend the University of Nebraska at Lincoln but decided to stay in the area and farm. He married Alma A. Linsenmeyer on December 10, 1953 at Wymore Church of Christ. He farmed his entire life until moving to Beatrice. He was a member of Christ Community Church of Beatrice. He was very active in 4-H and raising SPF pure bred Hampshire hogs. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening.

Survivors include his wife, Alma A. Spier of Lincoln; children, Sandy and Norm Harms, Julie and Allen Inhofe and Lorie Spier and Greg Jacobsen; two grandchildren, Nathan (Melissa) Harms and Mindy (Aaron) Titus; three great-grandchildren, Adellynn Harms, Nehemiah Harms and Ziva Titus; two sisters, Wanda Carpenter and Pat Esau; many special friends and relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Jessie Philippi Spier.

Funeral services will be held at Christ Community Church of Beatrice at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, January 19, 2018 with Pastor Jack Magness officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Home Cemetery of Beatrice. A family prayer service will be held at 1:45 P.M. at the church on Friday. A memorial has been established to the family’s choice. The body will lie in state at the Fox Funeral Home of Beatrice from 8:00 A.M. to 9:00 P.M. on Thursday and at the church one hour preceding the services on Friday. www.foxfuneralhome.net Fox Funeral Home of Beatrice is in charge of the arrangements.
