Obituary for Marcella M. Winkle

Marcella M. Winkle, 83, of Beatrice died in a Lincoln hospital on Tuesday, September 26, 2017. She was born on March 31, 1934 at Beatrice and lived in the Adams vicinity most all of her life. She graduated from Adams High School and then attended and graduated from the Joseph’s College of Beauty. She lived in Beatrice and Pickrell where she owned and operated her own beauty shop. She worked at the P.E.O. Home, Beatrice State Developmental Center, Martin Luther Home (Mosaic) and Home Instead. She enjoyed being a beautician at the Kensington Beauty Shop and visiting with the residents. She worked in the Pioneer Foster Grandparent Program at Southeast Community College and Cedar School. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church of Beatrice and a former member of Zion Lutheran Church of rural Pickrell. She was also a former member of the Eagles Auxiliary of Beatrice. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, Dalmatians, horses and dancing.

Survivors include three sons, Neil Winkle and wife Ginnie of Beatrice, Jeff Winkle and wife Deb of Filley and Russell Winkle and wife Barbara of Winterville, NC; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Herman F. and Caroline Hesterman Dorn; one brother, Elmer Dorn.

Funeral services will be held Friday, September 29, 2017 at 1:30 P.M. at St. John Lutheran Church of Beatrice with Pastor Greg Gabriel and Pastor Leah Lawson officiating. Cremation will follow the services and inurnment will be at a later date. A memorial has been established to Pioneer Foster Grandparent Program with Lisa Milke in charge. The body will lie in state at the Fox Funeral Home of Beatrice from 12:00 noon Thursday until 11:00 A.M. on Friday. Fox Funeral Home of Beatrice in charge of arrangements.
