Obituary for Betty L. Willey

Betty L. Willey, 90, of Beatrice died at her home on August 31, 2017.  She was born on July 4, 1927 at rural Barneston and graduated from Barneston High School.  She married Elmo Willey on March 9, 1946 at Marysville KS and they lived in Barneston, Liberty, Summerfield, KS and Wymore before moving to Beatrice in 1961.  She was a life member of the American Legion Auxiliary of Beatrice.  Betty enjoyed gardening, playing cards with family and friends, fishing and all things “Husker.”  She especially enjoyed time with her family and her special pet companion Murk. 



            Survivors include one son, John Willey of Beatrice; four daughters, Becky (Bob) Mick of Wymore, Patty (Gordon) Bitting of Beatrice, Janie (Monty) Fralin of Eagle Rock, MO and Trudy Spicer and significant other Dennis Morgan of Beatrice; son-in-law, Larry Bartels of DeWitt; 18 grandchildren, Quint Mick of Bellevue, Tammy (Mark) Meints of Wymore, Keil Mick of Beatrice, Paul Mick of Lincoln, Angie Hamilton of Omaha, Sheila (Jim) Decker of Wymore, Shawn (Gina) Weise of DeWitt, Robin (Tim) Klein of Lincoln, Tim (Kelly) Fralin, Derek Fralin, Matt Fralin and significant other Chelesy Walters, Chris (Steph) Belding all of Beatrice, Brandy (Rich) Brodersen of Kearney,  Shawn (Marcia) Bartels of DeWitt, Eric (Michelle) Bartels of Plymouth, Shane Morgan and Shad (Amanda) Morgan all of Beatrice, Shawn (Christie) Morgan of Odell; 40 great-grandchildren; 23 great-great-grandchildren; four sisters-in-law, Edna Mae Day of Beatrice, Marie Day of Wymore, Verda Matthews of Yuma AZ and Arlene Shaffer of Topeka KS; numerous nieces and nephews; special friends Frieda Lyons and Trina Sanders.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Nellie Lytle Day; her husband, Elmo, who died November 10, 2008; daughter, Beth Bartels; grandson, Kyle Mick; great-granddaughter, Carly Jean Fraze; three brothers, Jack Day, William “Bud” Day  and Dean (Esther) Day; one sister, Dorothy (Harold) Vasey; parents-in-law, Earl and Margaret Willey; three brothers-in-law, Wilbur Matthews, Lyle Willey and Leslie Willey; three sisters-in-law, Jewell Melvin, Betty (Raymond) Eisenhauer and JoAnn (Lee) Affholder; several nieces and nephews.



            Memorial services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at Fox Funeral Home of Beatrice with Chaplain Sharon Schuster officiating.  Inurnment of the cremains will be in the Evergreen Home Cemetery of Beatrice.  Cremation has taken place.   A guestbook for signatures will be available at the Fox Funeral Home of Beatrice on Tuesday from 8:00 A.M. until time of services on Wednesday.  Casual attire is requested.  A memorial has been estab-lished to the family’s choice.  www.foxfuneralhome.net.  Fox Funeral home of Beatrice in charge of arrangements.
